Our stunning cover this month was photographed by Sabrina Suppers and features Jessica Isabella Schuimer, a Brazilian/Dutch resident whose face is becoming more and more widely known on and off the island. We had a quick chat with Jessica last month.

Consul Chat

Last month we cornered Charmaine Arbouin, the British Consul for the Canaries, as she briefly visited Arrecife accompanies by the Vice Consul in Las Palmas, Jackie Stevenson and Lanzarote's Honorary Consul Sue Thain. Charmaine always gives straight, honest and expert advice and this time was no exception.

Don’t stop the music

Camille Tardieu, aka Camy Myles, is already an essential element of Lanzarote's music scene. Her strong, positive attitude, terrific voice and magnetic stage presence have already made her known to countless tourists & locals alike. Like all performers here, she's had her ups and downs during the pandemic, too.

Helen Lindes

Helen Lindes arrived on Lanzarote at the age of five, the daughter of a Spanish father and a British mother. In the year 2000, she won the Miss Spain contest, and her striking green eyes and demure beauty quickly made her into one of the country's most in-demand models.

Getting Back On Our Feet

Working on the web

When the lockdown put an end to Janet Harper's Spanish language classes in March, she decided to get online and hasn't looked back since. We chatted to her.

Face to Face: Jesús Machín, Mayor of Tinajo

Tinajo is the third-largest municipality on Lanzarote, but the second least-populated, with just 6,279 residents at the last census. Stretching from the volcanoes of Timanfaya in the west to the sandy desert region of El Jable in the east; from the wild coastline of the north to the wine fields of La Geria in the south, it's perhaps the most typically "Lanzarote" of all the municipalities.
