Autonomo reforms under discussion

Spain is negotiating a reform of the social security payments paid by autonomos (self-employed workers) which is likely to reduce the payments of those who earn the least, but increase the quota of those who earn more than €1,700 a month.

New streetlights in Argana Alta

Last Friday the Arrecife Ayuntamiento moved forward with their Public Infrastructure plan to improve the capital, installing new energy efficient streetlights in Argana Alta.

Hospital roundabout extension

Extra lanes will be created on roads leading from the main roundabout serving San Bartolomé and the hospital on Arrecife’s outer ring road, in order to ease traffic flow in and out of the city.

Oswaldo Betancort has once again asked the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries why the fish farms off the coast of Puerto Calero are being allowed to continue to operate when their licence expired last August.

Binter to increase flights to Lanzarote

Canarian airline Binter will increase its services to Lanzarote this summer, basing a second plane on the island to permit early morning connections to Gran Canaria and Tenerife. A flight to Madeira is also planned, and a direct connection to La Palma is also under consideration.
