Hospital suffers outbreak while police sweep Arrecife

An outbreak of Covid-19 in the Internal Medicine ward of Lanzarote Dr. José Molina Oroso Hospital has stretched resources at the hospital to the limit.

The number of new cases once again broke the hundred mark yesterday as Lanzarote registered 112 new cases. With 82 recvoeries, this brings the overall total of cases on the island to 978.

Level 4 for Lanzarote

Lanzarote and La Graciosa will be the first islands to be placed in Level 4 after the Canarian Government yesterday decided that stricter measures were required in order to deal with the continued rise in Covid-19 cases on the island. Yesterday's decision by the Canarian Council of Ministers had been expected and followed the announcement that the island has seen 124 new cases - the highest daily total ever. This figure took Lanzarote to 609 cases overall, another record for the island.
