If you like far-flung flavours, you’ll find that the main supermarkets on Lanzarote are still limited, although they’re far better than they were. Here’s a list of places where you can find flavours from across the world:
On Lanzarote, you’ll usually find a selection of Mexican and Far Eastern foods, and some British, German, or Italian products. But if you want to really dig deep, you’ll need to find specialist shops.
Overseas Supermarket in Playa Honda, Puerto del Carmen and Playa Blanca are the main UK shops on Lanzarote, but there is a decent selection of ethnic foods available, too.
Europ Foods supplies UK, German, Dutch, Belgian, Mexican, and Asian produce, and Tierney’s are also great for UK and Irish food deliveries.
The Deutscher Supermarket on C/Guanapay (Cardiac Hill), Puerto del Carmen, sells German, British, Polish and Romanian products.
Yash Supermarket at C/Anzuelo 30, Puerto del Carmen, is a magnet for Indian food fans, and Poonam is always helpful.
Chao, at C/Paraguay 3 in Arrecife is the largest Chinese supermarket on the island. The Mini Mercado Asiatico at C/ Aniagua 5 also has a good selection, while the Tienda China at Av. Mancomunidad 6 has a smaller selection.
Moroccan products can be found At Madina, C/Mexico 33, Maria Para El, Mundo, C/Ing Paz Pereira 45, Atlasfuer, C/ Léon y Castillo 127 and Wad Non, also on Léon y Castillo 97. The last two also sell Halal meat.
Supermercado Cabrera, C/Mexico 56, is just one of several Latin American food suppliers in Arrecife.
