As with previous editions the race had two sections – last Friday started with the individual 7.5km time trials between La Hoya and Playa Blanca and the following event on Saturday saw the athletes take on the 2.2km race through the centre of town with the goal of completing the most laps within an hour.
The winner of the race, Jonas Van de Steen stated that the race was “super hard because of the wind and the quality of the handbikers that we see that every year more and more come to Playa Blanca.”. The Belgian with a Canarian heart highlights that Playa Blanca is a “paradise to train and live in, because of the accessibility and quality of life, and because here, due to the climate, we suffer much less as wheelchair users.”.
