Queen Sofia of Spain arrived on Lanzarote last week in the midst of a nasty calima and headed straight for the barrio of Altavista in the north of Arrecife, which is normally quite unaccustomed to the presence of royalty, where she visited the island’s food bank.
The Queen Emeritus then headed to the recently renovated Hotel Fariones in puerto del Carmen, where she rested and dined.
Hotel director Iñigo Martínez said “It’s been a real source of pride to receive the Queen Emeritus and show her our facilities and services. Her words of gratitude on check-out have really boosted our spirits.”
