Wardens at the campsite in Papagayo have complained that they feel afraid and that their work is being made difficult by the actions of a few campers.
According to a report in Lancelot, the wardens claim that one of them has been kicked by a camper who they were attempting to deal with. On another occasion, stones were thrown at their caravan and a windscreen wiper broken off.
The wardens say that “Most campers follow the rules, but a small minority play loud music, cause a ruckus and become violent when wardens attempt to intervene.
“We have no witnesses, no security cameras, and calls to the Guardia Civil aren’t always possible due to lack of coverage. The truth is we’re frightened. Nobody can work properly here.”
