The Lanzarote Cabildo approved a grant of €5000 for GAMAS, which will go towards organising an educational program to destigmatise mental health issues in young people.

The GAMAS group, a suicide and mental health support group, received approval of a €5000 grant from the Lanzarote Cabildo. The grant will go towards an educational program which aims to spread awareness & destigmatise mental health issues in young people.

President of the Cabildo María Dolores Corujo, expressed the importance of mental health awareness, “We are obligated and committed to educating the population, from a young age, about the guidelines and necessary actions to take in the event of a serious mental health issue. So that they can be detected early.”.

“We need to open up about taboo topics, especially after the worry, loneliness and fear of the pandemic.”.
