The Lanzarote tourist centres have requested permission to start the restoration of six devils leading up to the Timanfaya National Park.
The Devils were originally designed in the 70s by César Manrique, made from iron and wood. As expected, over the decades the wood and iron have started to deteriorate due to years of sun and heat exposure.
Managing directer of the Tourist Centres Benjamín Perdomo explained, “We’re continuing to restore the original quality of César Manrique’s Devils.”.
The damaged wooden signs will be sanded down to remove imperfections, the letters and engravings will be repainted, as well as applying a special anti-woodworm treatment to the wood. Details on the restoration of the iron devils have not been released yet.
