The lockdown in Spain will be extended for another 15 days once the Spanish congress votes for the measure this Wednesday.

The President of Spain’s national government, Pedro Sánchez, spoke to the President’s of the autonomous communities on Saturday night to request the measure, which is likely to be passed unopposed.

This will extend the lockdown period until the 11th April, with no guarantee that it will not be further extended afterwards. Sánchez warned “We must prepare ourselves emotionally and psychologically for very hard days ahead” in reference to rapidly rising numbers of new cases.
