The cleaning and graffiti removal of the Arrecife monument has been completed by the Tibicena company.
Arrecife Mayor, Astrid Pérez, expressed “my strongest condemnation of the lack of civility, of a few citizens, who do not respect the historical heritage of Arrecife. And this, in addition to a lack of appreciation for the city and also an act of vandalism, is an expense of municipal funds that are provided by the tax payer.”
The Puente de las Bolas, Castillo de San Gabriel and the surrounding area is classified as a Bien de Interés Cultural (Asset of Cultural Interest), which means that any work carried out must be through a specialised restoration company with the approval of the Cabildo.
Councilor, Roberto Herbón, revealed “processing the file and obtaining authorisation from the Cabildo delayed the work, for which is it necessary to hire restoration experts that have the technicians and materials to carry out this type of work”.
The Tibicena company, under the direction of restoration technician Sara Bosh Mauricio, have carried out the restoration with a budget of just over 3,000 euros.
