San Juan is coming…

The Dia de San Juan (St John’s Day), on the 23rd June, marks midsummer and is celebrated with bonfires throughout Spain. This event has caused the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium to produce a list of dos and don’ts for those celebrating the event next Wednesday.

La Graciosa fully vaccinated by July 4th

La Graciosa is set to become the first of the Canary Islands to reach the target of full vaccination of all over-16s, following a decision by the Canarian Health Council to provide vaccines for all the island. It is estimated that the island will reach this objective by 4th July.

La Graciosa clean up

Lanzarote Limpia touched down on La Graciosa yesterday and gathered huge amounts of litter and waste from the beach at Caleta de Sebo.

Tourist bonus

The Canaries has announced further details of its Tourist Bonus, which will be available from 1st July.

Massive vaccine push

A massive step-up in the vaccination programme on Lanzarote means that the island could reach its target of vaccinating 70% of the population over the age of 16 before the end of July, if the current rate of immunisation continues.

The Canaries and all of Spain was horrified yesterday at the news that a body discovered off the coast of Tenerife was that of six-year-old Olivia Gimeno Zimmermann, who was abducted along with her one-year-old sister Anna by their father, Tomás Gimeno, in late April.
