Tias Ayuntamiento yesterday voted to raise taxi fares in the municipality by 9.74%. The motion was passed unanimously in yesterday’s council meeting.
The council announced “This move is the first revision of fares that has occurred since 2016, and also takes into account the increase in fuel prices and the costs of maintenance and repair to vehicles.”
Before it comes into operation, the Canarian Pricing Commission will need to approve the increase, which will apply to all cab prices, such as the flag-down charge, rate per kilometre, daytime and night-time rates, and supplements for holidays.
Mayopr Juan José Cruz said the decision had been taken after “constant contact” with the taxi sector in Tías.
