Lanzarote’s beaches are likely to be packed this weekend after Spain’s weather agency AEMET upgraded tomorrow’s weather warning to orange and added another orange warning for Sunday.

The warnings apply from 11 am until 8pm on Saturday 9th of August and Sunday 10th August.

On Saturday temperatures are predicted to reach 37 degrees Celsius, with inland areas and the south-east of the island worst affected. On Sunday, maximums of 39 degrees are forecast, with some areas that may reach 40-41 degrees.

An orange warning means “Be Prepared”: citizens are advised to remain informed and certain outdoor activities may be affected. Businesses should take measures to protect employees from the heat.
