Yaiza is presenting its vision for sustainable marine tourism at the Fitur 2026 international tourism fair in Madrid this week.
Mayor Óscar Noda took to the stage at Fitur on Thursday to present what he termed “unrepeatable experiences” available in the south of Lanzarote. Focusing on the growing blue tourism sector, he detailed the unique opportunities for visitors to connect with the sea.
The presentation, supported by a video showcasing stunning underwater and coastal footage, highlighted how visitors and athletes alike enjoy the municipality’s marine activities, contributing to the local economy.
Playa Blanca has already kicked off the 2026 international sailing regatta season, welcoming more than 900 sailors from 47 different nationalities.
Highlighting Cruise Potential
Noda also used the platform to outline the potential of cruise tourism for the area. “We have the commercial port of Playa Blanca, the most sustainable in the Canary Islands,” he stated. “Its renovation project cost more than €40 million, and we must make the most of it. It is equipped to receive boutique or medium-sized cruise ships carrying passengers with high purchasing power. We need the Canary Islands Government to take the necessary steps to turn its commitment into reality.”
