It’s easy to walk into one of Lanzarote’s many souvenir shops and pick up something that many other people have. We’ve put together a list of unique gifts that aren’t mass-produced and are made right here on Lanzarote.

In a world dominated by “fast fashion” many are choosing to slow things down a bit, opting for local, handmade items of clothing that take time and care.

For this list of gift ideas from Lanzarote, we’ve chosen to highlight Tania Candela of Famaraspirit, who creates her unique jewellery items from her home in stunning Famara.

We have chosen to highlight Tania’s items as she uses the island as inspiration when creating her unique jewellery and a large part of that inspiration comes from Lanzarote’s shores. Here is a list of 5 jewellery items that would make great gifts this Christmas:

1. “FAMARA BY NIGHT”

This intricate silver necklace shows the Famara cliffs at night with the twinkling stars above. A unique piece made in the image of Famara, in Famara.

The necklace is made from recycled silver with an oxidised finish with chain lengths of 16 inch (40cm), 18 inch (45cm) & 20 inch (50cm).

2. “LARGE SEA URCHIN”

This stunning silver marine necklace is inspired by Sea Urchins.

The sea urchin is one of the most prominent sea creatures in our collection. Tania at Famaraspirit is fascinated by its natural symmetry. On its shell it exhibits amazing patterns that is reproduced in their many Sea Urchin pieces.

The necklace is made from recycled silver with chain lengths of 18 inch (45cm) & 20 inch (50cm).

3. “BRANCHES”

A silver ring inspired by the Tunera (a cactus characteristic of the landscape of the north of Lanzarote.) The Tunera was a source of wealth due to its use in the cochineal industry for the product of natural dyes.

The texture evokes the cactus fields of Guatiza from a bird’s eye view.

The ring has a matt and partially high polished finish and is available in various sizes.

4. “MALPAIS”

This silver bangle is inspired by the fields of petrified lava that has created Lanzarote’s rugged and barren landscape.

Hidden in the depths of the Malpaís are jewels as precious as the impressive volcanoes on the surface, whose black colour is reminiscent of the magma flows spewed by the Timanfaya volcanoes in all directions, giving Lanzarote its unique identity.

This silver bangle reflects Lanzarote’s lunar-like landscape and is available in various sizes.

5. “CORAL HOOPS”

The white Atlantic coral is common on the coasts of Lanzarote and is the inspiration for these hoop earrings.

Despite their plant-like appearance, corals are animals. They are considered the “architects of marine ecosystems” and support 25% of life in salt water. In the perfect environment, they can live up to 1000 years.

The hoop earrings are crafted using sculptural techniques and 930 Silver.
