An earthquake of magnitude 3.3 was detected off the north coast of Lanzarote on Thursday. The tremor was located at a depth of 8 kilometres and does not appear to have been accompanied by any other activity.
A 3.3 magnitude quake is rarely noticed by people, and volcano experts on the Canaries are more concerned about a cluster of minor quakes that have been taking place between Tenerife and Gran Canaria recently.
And low level volcanic activity continues in La Palma as the island approaches the first anniversary of last year’s eruption.
