On Friday 5th June, the Las Palmeras Golf Society held a fun tournament for its members and visitors, reports Jean-Francois Crinquand. Plenty of golfers turned out for the Three Clubs and a Putter Challenge Trophy, the weather was near perfect and the Costa Teguise Golf course is in much better shape than might have been expected after being closed for two months. The fairways have been a little dry due to the restricted availability of grey water, but the putting greens are excellent.

As for this fun stableford format competition itself, we were in for a surprise. Golfers usually carry an average of between 10 and 14 golf clubs, so one would think that having only three clubs and a putter would be reflected with lower scores than usual. Astonishingly, the opposite happened. Ricardo Whitlock won with a terrific score of 35 points and several players scored 30 or more points. Some lessons will be learned from this!

This was the podium: 1st Ricardo Whitlock, 2nd Annie Rayner, 3rd Andy Farr. Other than a trophy, the winner also received a very interesting book entitled “Kinetic Golf ”. The second and third place golfers received some very nice golf-related books, too.

Members of Las Palmeras Golf Society meet every Tuesdays and Fridays at 8.45am at Costa Teguise Golf. Visitors are most welcome to join us for a friendly game of Golf. By playing with the Society, you will qualify for a 20% discount on the Green Fees. Even better, the Costa Teguise Golf Club currently has a very special offer valid until the end of September.

Six (6) green fees for €180, that’s €30 per round of golf!
