Julian Diaz’ goat’s cheese, made in Fuerteventura, has been chosen as the best cheese of the Canary Islands at the 21st National Goat Milk Cheese Contest.

At the latest edition of the Fuerteventura Agricultura, Livestock and Fisheries Fair (FEAGA) Julian Diaz’ pasteurized goat’s cheese has been chosen as the Best Cheese of the Canary Islands.

Julian Diaz also won the first prize in the pasteurized cured cheese category, while 2nd place went to Quesos Maxorata de Grupo Ganaderos, both from Fuerteventura.

Lanzarote’s Quesería El Faro won first prize for the soft cheese category, while 2nd place went to Tío Rest from Murcia. In the semi-cured pasteurized category, the first place went to Julián Díaz, and Queso El Tofio from Grupo Ganaderos won second place.

In the soft cheeses made from raw milk category, first place went to Quesos La Ampuyenta and the second place to Quesería el Cantil. In semi-cured cheeses with raw milk, Quesería Artesanal Guedes won first place, and the runner-up was Filo El Cuchillo de Lanzarote.

Luna de Awara from La Palma received first place in raw milk cured cheese and Rosa de La Madera (Fuerteventura) won second place.
