Last weekend Playa Blanca held their annual dog costume contest organised by Yaiza Animal Protection and Doggys del Sur.

The canines of Playa Blanca got dressed up in their best attire for this year’s dog costume contest to compete for 1st place and the prize basket full of treats and toys. Although the furry companions were most interested in the treats up for grabs, the organisers of the contest used it to raise awareness for animal care.
First place winner Noa won with her “Spaghetti a la noañesa” costume, second place winner Alma with her American Football attire, and third place winner Tadeo who came dressed as a Minion from Despicable Me.
Mayor of Yaiza Oscar Noda, and Animal Protection Councilor Águeda Cedrés, presented the gifts to the top 3. The jury also awarded a special price to Toby for his stunning confidence on the catwalk. Or should it be called the dogwalk?
It wasn’t just pets that walked the walk, the Yaiza Animal shelter made use of the catwalk to show the dogs that are still looking to be adopted and find their forever home.
