The Yaiza Ayuntamiento reminded non-residends that to drive and park at Papagayo beaches, they must pay by card only.
Non-residents must pay the 3 euro toll by card or contactless mobile only, 3 euros change will not be accepted. The Ayuntamiento reminds tourists that all the information is present on their website, and reiterates this after complaints by visitors.
Papagayo beaches are one of the top 3 most popular beaches on Lanzarote. Every weekend tourists and residents flood to the sunny southern town to set up their towels, parasols and beachballs at Papagayo beaches.
By far the most popular beach with tourists is Playa del Papagayo. Although Playa Mujeres is also popular, and easily accessible by foot should you choose to park in Las Coloradas and walk.
Not to mention the many little alcoves that are somewhat private, and usually have around just 20 beach goers at a time.
