Authorities have confirmed an unusual incident at Tenerife South Airport last October, in which an elderly man attempted to board an international flight with his wife, who was later confirmed to have passed away.
The event occurred on October 24th. According to reports, a foreign national, aged around 80, attempted to pass through security control with his 75-year-old wife. The woman was in a wheelchair and appeared to have mobility issues.
Security personnel detected something was amiss. The woman was unresponsive and was found to have a very low body temperature. Medical services were immediately alerted to the situation.
Upon examination, it was confirmed that the woman had died.
Sources from the Guardia Civil have informed EFE that their investigation found no evidence of criminality. They indicate that from the outset, there were no signs of foul play, and the death was determined to be due to natural causes. As a result, the husband was not arrested.
The authorities also noted that it remains unclear whether the man was aware his wife had died at the time he attempted to pass through airport security. The couple were reportedly travelling to their country of origin.
