Lanzarote’s Tourist Federation has confirmed that bookings for the island have increased in recent weeks, and predicts that the island will see 85% capacity during the Easter Holidays.
Susana Peréz, of Asolan said that “at the beginning of March we saw bookings start to drop off after an excellent winter. However, the situation has rallied in the last fortnight and we’re expecting occupation levels of 85%, which is pretty good – and even 90% in some places.”
Spanish domestic tourism is performing particularly well, and the recent sensationalist headlines in the UK press which followed the misrepresentation of the Cabildo President’s statements appears to have had no effect on British tourism, which remains the strongest market.
Fine, calmer weather is also forecast for the rest of the week, meaning that many of those holiday makers are likely to get exactly what they came here for.
