Oswaldo Betancort, the CC deputy for Lanzarote, has demanded an urgent solution to the parking problems at the hospital, criticising “the absence of planning or, better put, the improvisation excused by an emergency,” that permitted the construction of an extension which makes daily life worse for everyone who attends the hospital.”

Betancort pointed out that the new extension opposite the Emergencies Department had caused chaos because “workers at the hospital have to arrive an hour early to find parking and, as for patients, forget it…”

“Outside Consultas Externas (Outpatients) there’s a piece of land that people use that’s next to the Argana School, with the resulting chaos when parents come to pick up or drop off their children,” said Betancort, and also claimed that, during a recent visit, patients waiting for appointments inside the hospital had been repeatedly disturbed by announcements relating to badly-parked vehicles outside.

Betancort also called for more staff within the hospital and more up-to-date computer equipment.
