Yesterday the Lanzarote Cabildo celebrated and commemorated international LGBT pride day holding presentations and illuminating the front of the building with colours of the flag that represents the LGBT community.
The commemoration took place yesterday at 12pm outside of the front of the Cabildo building.
“On a day like today, we reiterate our commitment to continue promoting positive attitudes and policies that favour social awareness, to promote change in LGBTphobic mentalities”, said Cabildo President, María Dolores Corujo.
Corujo stated her “concern for the many documented cases of the criminalisation of those within the LGBT community”.
The Cabildo President has reaffirmed their commitment to “a society respectful of diversity, capable of eradicated hatred and discrimination.
We will continue to work for a world of absolute tolerance, freedom, and equality.”.
Marking the day, the front of the Cabildo was lit up on the night with the rainbow flag.
