An injured hang glider was rescued from Punta Fariones yesterday.
Punta Fariones is the northernmost tip of Lanzarote, formed by two sea stacks that are often separated from the coast by the sea. The emergency services were informed that a hang glider had become stranded there at 6.30 pm yesterday.
Firemen from La Graciosa travelled to the rock in a jet ski, where they discovered that the hang glider had suffered a possible fractured hip. They managed to get him on board the jet ski and took him to Caleta de Sebo in La Graciosa, where he was stabilised by health workers before being transported across the sea to Órzola, where an ambulance was waiting to take him to hospital.
