Guardía Civil crack down on illegal building in Haría and Tías

The Guardia Civil is investigating 22 people for planning offences after inspecting 23 illegal buildings in Haría and Tías.

The suspects could face prison sentences, fines and demolition orders for building in protected areas.

Inspections were carried out by the EPRONA department of the Guardia Civil, which is dedicated to the protection of nature. Based in Las Palmas, the agents relocate to Lanzarote periodically to carry out their duties, and the 22 investigations are added to 20 previous ones, involving 42 buildings, that were initiated earlier this year.
