Lanzarote welcomed the first flight to arrive on the island from Funchal, Madeira, yesterday.
Binter airlines has been operating flights to and from Funchal from Las Palmas and Tenerife for several years, but this is the first direct connection with Lanzarote. The weekly flight departs Madeira at 14.40 every Saturday and returns on the same day at 5pm.
The Portuguese Island famous for producing fortified wine and Cristiano Ronaldo lies 500 kilometres north-west of Lanzarote.
