You may have noticed that the turning leading down to Puerto Calero has been closed off due to road last week. This is due to a €897,000 investment from the Yaiza Ayuntamiento, which aims to completely resurface the long stretch of road that leads from the IES Yaiza roundabout down to Puerto Calero.

As well as the total resurfacing of the main road, the IES Yaiza car park will also be resurfaced.

We recently published an interview with the Mayor of Yaiza, Oscar Noda, in which he explained “We’ll be resurfacing various roads as a matter of urgency. They include the road to Puerto Calero from the Yaiza Secondary School; various streets in Yaiza which will also be provided with facilities for lighting and drainage, and several streets in Playa Blanca, mainly in the area of San Marcial and Las Coloradas.”.

A total of 2.4 kilometres of road will be resurfaced, as well as the construction of two hard shoulders and rainwater channels running alongside the road.
