A recent report by the Cabildo’s Data Centre revealed that 2021 was colder and averaged more rain than 2020.
2021 recorded an average temperature of 21.4°C and recorded 92.6 millimetres over a total of 32 days of rain. Although 2020 recorded 2 more days of rain, it averaged 67.2 millimetres.
Most of the rainfall came in the months of January and February, where almost two thirds of the years rain was recorded.
2021’s rain is nothing compared to the wettest year of the century in 2005, a year in which the island recorded 211.6 millimetres of rain.
The hottest month of last year was recorded in August with an average of 26°C. 2021 got off to a cold start in January, with the lowest average temperatures of the year at 17.5°C.
