This month’s Easter celebrations and Volcano Triathlon, and the island’s biggest sporting event – the Lanzarote Ironman – are among the huge amount of events that have been cancelled, suspended or postponed by the coronavirus crisis.
With the Canarian government banning any gatherings of more than 1,000 people, and the subsequent closure of bars, restaurants and hotels, leisure events have, effectively been placed on hold on Lanzarote until at least April 12th, when the extended lockdown period is due to end.
However, there is a strong likelihood that the lockdown may be extended, and it seems probable that mass events will remain in-viable for some time.
