The meeting between Corujo, Valbuena and Pons, responds to the demand to turn both archipelagos into leaders in the energy transition in Spain.
Pons and Valbuena presented the achievements and obstacles encountered in the transition that the two island territories are developing from fossil fuel-based energy systems to one based on renewable energy.
President of the Lanzarote Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo, explained that this meeting is due to “the need to redouble our commitment to a more efficient, sustainable and environmentally-friendly model to guarantee a green and clean future for the coming generations and, at the same time, to find answers to minimise the social and economic impact that the Ukraine invasion is having on the traditional European energy system.”.
