The UGT trade union has condemned delayed and missed wage payments at Adislan, Lanzarote’s Association for Disabled People.
The union and the workers’ committee at the centre have threatened demonstrations and industrial action if the issue is not resolved. The worker’s committee has stated that the business is experiencing “problems of liquidity” due to the Cabildo supplying “funds that are not sufficient to cover the services provided.”
The UGT has stated that “this is not the first time this has happened. Delays and partial payment of wages are frequent.”
“It ought not to be the workers who pay for this irregular situation,” said the committee, warning that quality of services could be affected by the uncertainty and anxiety caused.”
