Arrecife Mayor, Yonathan de León, shared images from the capital’s animal shelter last week, showing the refreshing treats offered to the animals during the hottest times of the day.
On Facebook, de León wrote “On days of high temperatures, like the ones we are having, we offer fruit with ice cubes to the pets we have housed in the Centro de Protección Animal de Arrecife, we take care of their food and condition until they are adopted. Responsible adoption allows these animals to have a new foster family. If you know of any family who would like to adopt a pet, please contact the centre. On their website you can see photos so that you can get to know them.”
While not as hot as last year, the island is still very hot during the daytimes and to combat this Arrecife’s animal shelter has provided fruit bowls with ice cubes and play pools for its furry guests.
The shelter houses many dogs and cats and is always looking for potential forever homes for their animals. You can visit the centre on Calle Los Invernaderos and get in touch via telephone at +34 683 292 698 or via email at cpa.arrecife@gmail.com.
