Sailing boat ran ashore at Papagayo

A sailing boat ran ashore on Papagayo in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Emergency services were contacted by two crew members at around 3 am on Friday morning. They explained that they had departed from Isla de Lobos on course for La Graciosa when an “error” had led to the boat running ashore on Playa de las Mujeres, the longest beach at Papagayo.

Bothe crew members were unharmed, but the boat was destroyed by waves. After emergency services failed to tow it away because it was waterlogged and mired in sand, it was removed by a council digger.
