A pet crematorium should be operating in the Zonzamas Environmental Centre by the end of the year, the Cabildo announced on Thursday.
The €185,000 project will allow pet owners to cremate and collect the ashes of their pets – something that has been impossible since the closure of the last private crematorium on the island.
This has meant that pet owners have been forced to either dispose of their animals in the rubbish, or to break the law by burying them secretly.
Prices for the service have not been announced, but are likely to correspond to the weight and size of each pet.
