Traveller to and from the south of the island should prepare for substantial detours over the next week, as the stretch of road between the Macher Roundabout and the Puerto Calero roundabout will be closed to permit works on the new roundabout on the hilltop.
The detour (for those heading south) will involve taking the LZ-504 towards Puerto del Carmen from the Macher roundabout, turning along the Camino del Pozo and then turning back up the Puerto Calero access road to rejoin the main road. For those heading north, the same route will apply in the other direction.
The detour will add 5 kms and several minutes to journeys. The works are expected to be completed and the main road reopened by 16th November.
