Registered hotels and tourist complexes made more than €70 million this August, a figure that is more than three times higher than last year’s take.
This income is also three million Euros higher than in July 2019, the last year when tourism was unaffected by Covid restrictions. This has occurred despite the fact that almost 30,000 fewer tourists have arrived compared with three years ago, with just over a quarter of a million people staying in tourist accommodation this July.
Increased income from a smaller amount of tourists reflects that prices are now higher than they were in 2019. The average price of a night in a tourist establishment is currently €107, €15 more than the €92 of 2019.
The average duration of stay has also fallen. This year, the average tourist stayed for 7.72 days, compared to the 8.36 days registered in 2019.
