Today the Lanzarote Cabildo have announced that they will be running organised field trips this summer through one the island’s most unique ecosystems, El Jable.
The free field trips are aimed at the island’s residents and will consist of activities such as bird watching, workshops and talks with a local farmer who will explain traditional farming techniques.
Additionally, all participants will receive an informative talk beforehand about the characteristics of the area, its biodiversity, and the behaviour of certain birds.
The Cabildo Councillor for Environment, Elena Solís, explained that “through these outings, they will be able to discover the treasures hidden in El Jable, learn about the origin of this important natural site on the island, as well as see its birds and understand the delicate connections within the ecosystem.”.
The field trips are open to all interested residents including families with children. There will be a total of 17 outings from today until the 31st of August. The groups will be a maximum of 15 people.
Registration is free and can be made via the website www.desertwatch.org, and the meeting point will be at 9am at the Complejo Agroindustrial de Teguise, finishing at 1pm.
