The Safety & Emergencies Consortium continue to hold events to educate and raise awareness of how to act in an emergency on Lanzarote’s beaches.

The month of June saw the highest number of drownings, according to data collected by the INA and the Spanish Lifeguard Federation. In 2020, a total of 338 fatalities were recorded in Spain, as a result of drowning.
The Lanzarote Safety & Emergencies Consortium are holding educational events on popular beaches to instruct how to act in the event of an emergency.
Knowing what to do in the event of an emergency is vital to saving a life. The instructors explain everything you need to know from accident prevention as well as appropriate measures to take in the event of an emergency.
Participants are also show how to resuscitate someone by Lanzarote medical staff, with the use of a dummy.
The workshops are taught in English and Spanish. At the end of the workshop you will be handed an informational leaflet which details tips for preventing accidents as well as descriptions of signs that can be found on beaches.
The next workshop will be presented at El Reducto beach in Arrecife, Wednesday to Sunday from 12:00h to 16:00h.
