Rain to continue

Lanzarote continues to experience steady rainfall today, while the Canary Islands have avoided any serious effects from the passing of tropical depression Hermine.

Yesterday, the National Centre for Hurricanes in Miami confirmed the formation of a tropical storm south-west of the Canaries.

Tremors offshore

An earthquake of magnitude 3.3 was detected off the north coast of Lanzarote on Thursday. The tremor was located at a depth of 8 kilometres and does not appear to have been accompanied by any other activity.

Water and power contract

Canal Gestión is finalising an agreement to guarantee electricity supply to its desalination plants. The contract could last for up to five years, with a budget of €79.5 million for that period.
