A wheelchair-bound passenger was left unattended and missed their flight to Bristol, reports La Voz de Lanzarote.
The incident occurred on May 12th, when a passenger booked on a Ryanair flight to Bristol was left in the Special Assistance Area of Terminal 1. The assistance staff left her behind and the flight departed without her, forcing her to spend another night on Lanzarote and catch a flight the next day.
The service for disabled passengers is sourced out by AENA to a company called Mitie, and sources indicate that the workers have to deal with a high number of requests and staff shortages.
AENA has said that it will take “necessary measures”, including contract revision, in response to the incident.
