Lanzarote will continue under a yellow alert for rough seas until tomorrow afternoon as the island heads into an unsettled Easter weekend, with the swiftly changing bright sunshine, showers, and grey skies typical of this time of year.

A yellow alert means that citizens should be cautious and remain informed about weather conditions. The rough seas mean that any activities on the northern coasts should be carefully considered.

The volatile weather is a result of Storm Nelson, the worst of which has passed to the north of the Canaries bringing severe weather to the Spanish mainland. However, the unpredictability of the weather caused several flights to be delayed and diverted at Lanzarote airport yesterday.

Today, Good Friday, is predicted to be sunny with light clouds and brisk winds of up to 35 kph. The forecast for tomorrow is slightly warmer temperatures with overcast skies and a high chance of rain during the daylight hours.
