Unemployment fell by 505 people in Lanzarote last month, official statistics show. The decrease in unemployment was spread evenly over all areas of the island.
There are 8,834 officially unemployed on the island in March, with Arrecife heading the list with 4,569 claimants. The figures in other municipalities are: Teguise -1.030; San Bartolomé -967;Tías – 931; Yaiza – 620; Tinajo -327 and Haría – 300. These figures roughly reflect the population figures for these areas.
5,091 of the unemployed are women compared to 3,743 men.
