A member of Lanzarote’s Association of Travel Guides has published a video denouncing tourist who wander onto the lava fields at Timanfaya while waiting to enter the National Park.
A video posted on Instagram shows several tourists venturing into the lava fields by the roadside of the access to Timanfaya. It is accompanied by a message saying that “We are surrounded by people who are not only disrespectful, but totally blind to the beauty and fragility of our island.” The message calls for better information and “serious fines”.
On the video no signs are visible warning tourists that straying into the lava fields is prohibited. Meanwhile, the long queues that regularly form at Timanfaya have been a longstanding problem that the authorities have failed to tackle for several years.
