Lanzarote’s Emergency Consortium has published a list of safety recommendations for public events including firework displays, concerts and the forthcoming Three Kings parades on 5th January.

Security chief Francisco Aparicio said the advice was intended to “ensure the comfort and safety of people during these events which attract a lot of people”.

Recommendations

  • In any public place, be aware of the location of the emergency exits and try not to block them.
  • Whatever the type of event, always position yourself in a safe place, without exceeding the safety limits established by the organization.
  • Do not position yourself in places from which you could fall if you were pushed, such as railings, walls or stairs.
  • In the Three Kings’ parades, always keep children in sight, and do not let them stand behind the animals.
  • At fireworks displays, be very careful with falling burning fragments.
  • In the event of an incident, respect the instructions of the organization.
  • If you are part of a crowd, do not push.
  • Never use lifts in the event of an emergency.
  • Do not move injured people if you do not have first aid knowledge, unless the place where they are is unsafe. Remain calm.
  • If you have to evacuate an area, do so using the established exits and evacuation routes.
