Three Lanzarote wines have returned to the island with gold medals after attending this year’s VinEspaña competition, which saw 500 wines from Spain tasted by a panel of judges.

This national wine contest, organised by the Spanish Federation of Oenology Associations, aims to highlight the work of winemakers. This year’s competition saw the participation of around 500 samples, among which the best wines are chosen.

The jury is made up of a tasting panel of experts, journalists and other wine professionals who make VinEspaña one of the most prestigious and recognized national competitions.

The Lanzarote wineries, Bodegas Martinón (Martinón Afrutado, Martinón Seco) and Producciones Arráez (Lágrima de Malvasía Volcánica), were awarded three gold medals at this year’s competition.

“These awards are not only an honour for the award-winning wineries, but also motivates the entire wine community of the island to continue working with passion and dedication,” stated Nereida Pérez, secretary of the Consejo Regulador. “These wines reflect the unique terroir of the island and the dedication of the wineries to offer products of exceptional quality.”.
