Seven rubbish containers were set alight in Puerto del Carmen on Friday night.

The first fire occurred in Calle Guanapay at around 10 pm and affected four glass recycling containers and one for cardboard. The flames were so intense that an electrical switchbox nearby was also damaged by the blaze.

Later, firemen were called to Calle Teide, where two organic waste containers were completely destroyed after having been set ablaze.

In both cases the fires were extinguished with sprayed water. The fires were attended by Tías volunteer firemen , local police, Civil protection and the island’s firemen.
