Spain will vote for the second time in less than two months, following Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez’s decision to call a snap General Election on July 23rd.

After his Socialist party achieved poor results in Sunday’s regional and local elections, Sánchez announced “It’s time for the people to decide how they want to be governed,” and requested that the King of Spain call a  General Election

Sánchez has a history of taking risks and winning, but this may be a throw of the dice too far for him, and has already been called “a suicide mission”.

The Socialist party currently trail to the Partido Popular (PP)  in opinion polls, and their current coalition partners in the Unidas Si Podemos party have suffered various splits which drastically reduced their vote in the regional elections.
