The Las Palmas Prosecutor’s Office has requested a prison sentence of a year and a half and a fine of more than €4,000 against ex-Cabildo president Pedro San Ginés.
San Ginés is accused of lying under oath in relation to complaints he made over ten years ago against the businessman Antonio González. González has since died but the charges against San Ginés relate to a lawsuit his family issued two years ago.
The prosecutors allege that San Ginés testified against González on a number of occasion, “with clear contempt for the objective truth.”
No date has yet been set for a trial.
